Becoming
only the fourth person to jump over the 40-foot barrier in state meet
competition, Franklin was the 2010 state champion in the triple jump.
Tori would be a six-time state meet medalist at the IHSA finals.
Franklin would go one to set school records in both the indoor and outdoor
triple jumps at Michigan State University from 2012-2015, where Tori was a
three-time Big Ten champion in the event. Competing on the
professional track circuit, Franklin won the first of her three US Track &
Field Championships in the triple jump in 2017, and become a repeat winner
in 2018 and 2020. Tori broke the U.S. record in the womens' triple
jump with a 14.84 meter (48'8-1/4") performance in 2018. Franklin won
the bronze medal at the 2022 World Track & Field Championships in Eugene,
Oregon -- capturing the first ever World Championships triple jump medal by
an American. |
