BOB HAARLOW -- Hinsdale |
||||||||||||||
An All-State athlete in
two sports, Haarlow was an All-State End in football and and All-State guard
in basketball -- making Champaign News Gazette accolades on both squads
during the 1961-1962 school year. Bob helped lead the Red Devils to a
perfect season and a Mythical State Championship in football in 1961; and
was the second leading scorer in the West Suburban Conference in basketball
in 1962. Haarlow would choose to play basketball in college and was a
four-year letterman at Princeton, averaging over ten points per game in his
first three seasons. Bob was a member of three Ivy League championship
teams and a starter on the 1965 NCAA Final Four team that featured future
professional basketball player Bill Bradley. Haarlow became Headmaster
at the Wallace O'Neal Day School in North Carolina, where he served for
fifty years. |
