A three-time
state champion in track and cross country, McNamara swept the distance
triple crown in his senior year winning the 2004 individual cross country
title (14:32.4); and winning both the 1600-meter run (4:13.95) and the
3200-meter run (9:15.37) at the 2005 IHSA state track meet. Sean
finished third in the 2003 state cross country meet, and was the
state-runner-up in the 3200 meters and third in the 1600 meters at the state
track finals as a junior in 2004. McNamara would run collegiately at
the University of Michigan, where he was the Wolverines co-captain.
McNamara finished sixth in the 10,000 meter run in the Big Ten Championship
in 2008, and earned an All-Big Ten First Team citation. |
