BRIAN KURZA -- Hinsdale South |

A six-time
state champion at the Illinois High School Association swim meets, Kurza
would be a ten-time state meet medalist and achieve All-American honors.
Brian won the 50-yard freestyle event three straight years in 1986, 1987 and
1988; and was the 100-yard freestyle state champion in 1988. Kurza was
also part of the Hinsdale South state championship relay teams in the
200-meter medley relay in 1986, and the 400-yard freestyle relay in 1988.
In his senior year, Brian set the fastest marks in Illinois high school
history in the 50-yard freestyle (20.26) and in the 100-yard freestyle
(44.47). Kurza was a four-time All-American at UCLA, and became one of
the Bruins greatest swimming sprinters in school history, compiling UCLA's
second fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle and third fastest time in
100-yard freestyle. |
