ED STAREN -- Hinsdale Central |
||||||||||||||
A four-time All-State
tennis player, Staren became only the fourth person in state meet history to
be a state finals medalist in singles competition in all four years of their
high school career. Ed finished fifth as a freshman in 1972; was
second in both 1973 and 1974; and was the Illinois High School Association
singles champion in 1975. At the time of his graduation, Staren joined
Hinsdale's Marty Riessen and Parker's John Shostrom as the only individuals
to participate in three straight championship singles matches at the IHSA
finals. |
