Earning All-State
recognition in three sports, Thompson was an All-American high school
football player and two-time heavyweight state champion wrestler.
Hubert was named to the USA Today and Parade Magazine High School
All-American football teams in 1996 as a defensive lineman. Thompson
wrestled two years for the Panthers, winning two state titles, and compiled
a career 54-1 record -- with the only defeat coming by disqualification.
Hubert also placed fifth in shot put competition the 1997 IHSA state track
meet. Thompson played college football at Michigan State University
and was awarded the 1999 Tommy Love Award, given to the team's most improved
player. Thompson played for the Chicago Enforcers of the original XFL,
during the league's initial, and only, season in 2001. |
