JEFF DAWSON -- Downers Grove North |
||||||||||||||
After transferring from
York High School, Dawson was a member of the 1969 All-State
Basketball Team and set the West Suburban Conference scoring record with 455
points (32.5 points per game) -- an effort that still stands today.
Jeff also equaled the all-time WSC single-game scoring best of 49 points in
a game during his senior season. Dawson would play at Duke University
and the University of Illinois, averaging 15.0 points per game from
1970-1974. At Illinois, Jeff was an All-Big Ten selection and an
Academic All-American. Dawson was selected by the Golden State
Warriors in the 1973 NBA Draft, and later selected by the Kansas City-Omaha
Kings in the 1974 NBA Draft, but did not play professionally. Jeff is
a 1981 inductee into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of
Fame. |
