SHERELL FORD -- Proviso East |

An All-State basketball
player for the Pirates in 1990 and 1991, Ford was named as the Chicago
Sun-Times Player of the Year in 1991, helping lead Proviso East to the Class
"AA" state championship crown. Sherell played at the University of
Illinois-Chicago where he led the Mid-Continent Conference in scoring and
rebounding during his sophomore season. In his junior year with the
Flames, Ford averaged over 26 points per game and was named the Midwestern
Collegiate Conference Player of the Year. Sherell was selected as the
26th pick overall of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics.
Ford played one season with the Supersonics before embarking on an 11-year
career overseas. Ford's number 24 jersey was retired by the UIC Flames
in 1996. |
