MARIA CICERO -- York |
||||||||||||||
A three-time high school
state champion, Cicero was also a three-time All-American cross-country
runner in college. Maria was the Illinois High School Association
cross-country individual champion in the fall of 2000. Later that
school year, Cicero captured the 2001 state track meet championships in both
the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run -- after finishing as runner-up in
both events the year before. Maria would participate in track and
cross country at the collegiate level at Boston College University, where
she set the school record in the 10,000 meters (33:55.77) and was the only
Eagle runner to finish in the Top 20 of the cross-country National
Championships in three separate seasons. Cicero was inducted into the
Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. |
