TERRI ZEMAITIS -- Downers Grove South |
||||||||||||||
A high school All-American
in two sports, Ziematis earned all-state honors in volleyball three times
(1992, 1993, 1994) and was a two-time first team All-State basketball player
(1993, 1994). Terri earned All-West Suburban Conference honors in both
sports in all four years she started on the varsity level. Zemaitis
helped guide the Mustangs to a 27-5 record in basketball and the school's
first trip downstate in 1994. Terri anchored the DGS volleyball team's
two state quarterfinal appearances in volleyball in 1993 and 1994, as South
combined for a 74-11 record over that two-year period. Zemaitis, who
also played softball, was the Chicago Tribune Chicagoland Female Athlete of
the Year. At Penn State University, Terri set career records for
blocks (736) and was second in kills (1,842). Zemaitis
was a three-time first team All-American for the Nittany Lions, the
1995 Big Ten Player of the Year, the 1997 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding
Player, and a member of the U.S. National Volleyball Team.
