JEFF HORNACEK -- Lyons Township |

An All-State
basketball guard for the Lions in 1981, Hornacek would play as a walk-on at
Iowa State University. With the Cyclones, Jeff was a first team All
Big Eight player in 1986, and set the conference records for career assists
with 665. Hornacek was chosen in the second round of the 1986 NBA
Draft by the Phoenix Suns. Jeff would play in the NBA for fourteen
seasons with the Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz. Hornacek was
named to the NBA All-Star Team in 1992, and won the league's three-point
contest in 1998 and 2000. During the 1994-95 season, Jeff would set an
NBA record for 11 consecutive three-pointers and make 67 straight free
throws without a miss. In 1,077 games played, Hornacek ended his NBA
career with 15,659 points and 5,281 assists. Jeff was named head coach
of the Phoenix Suns from 2011-2013 and head coach of the New York Knicks
from 2016-2018. Hornacek's number 14 jersey was retired by both Iowa
State and the Utah Jazz. |
