A two-time IHSA state meet
finalist, Pope would play on the professional golfers tour for parts of
three decades. At the 2000 Illinois High School Association state
meet, Andy was in third place after the first day of the two-day
competition, shooting a 76, but finished 17th overall. The following
year, Pope shot a score of 73 in Day One competition -- placing him in
eighth place, but poor weather conditions cancelled the second day of the
state tournament. Andy attended Xavier University, where he captured
the 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference championship. Pope won the 2022
Florida Open and played in the PGA U.S. Open five times. |
