JOHN SHURNA -- Glenbard West |
||||||||||||||
An All-State power
forward, Shurna led the Hilltoppers to their best post-season showing in
nearly 70 years and became his college's all-time leading scorer. In
2007 as a junior, John helped Glenbard West to only their second-ever
supersectional appearance -- and first since 1938 -- in state series play.
In his senior season, Shurna was chosen to the Illinois Basketball Coaches
Association First Team All-State Team and won the IHSA Class 4A Slam Dunk
Championship. At Northwestern University, John was a three-time
All-Big Ten selection, averaged 15.7 points per game over his four years,
was the Big Ten scoring champ in 2012, and established the school record for
career scoring with 2,038 points. After going undrafted in the 2012
NBA Draft, Shurna played with various teams in the NBA Summer League, but
played professionally overseas with teams in Turkey, Croatia, and
Spain. In 2023 Shurna was named as the EuroCup Finals Most Valuable
Player, and led Gran Canaria to the EuroCup championship. |
