RON HAVELKA -- Downers Grove South |
||||||||||||||
Being only one of ten
coaches to have won 700 or more softball games in Illinois high school
history, Havelka won a state title and 21 West Suburban Conference
championships. In Ron's first season as varsity coach, Havelka guided
the Mustangs to a 36-1 record and the 1993 Illinois High School Association
state championship. Havelka would return to the state finals three
more times, placing second, third and fourth. In his 24 years as
coach, Ron would capture WSC Gold Division softball crowns in all but three
seasons -- as the Mustangs would win 265 of 288 conference games.
Havelka completed his career with 704 victories and 17 IHSA Regional titles.
Havelka was inducted into the Illinois Softball Coaches Association Hall of
Fame in 2007. |
