GARY GROUWINKEL -- York |
||||||||||||||
The winner of eight West Suburban Conference football championships, Grouwinkel rebuilt a program had won only 14 games in the previous seven years before his arrival. The Dukes made 10 post-season appearances during Grouwinkel's 17-year tenure, where he compiled a 108-63 record -- becoming the school's all-time leader in football victories. Gary's teams won WSC titles in both 1986 and 1988, before raffling off six straight Silver Division championships from 1992 through 1997. Grouwinkel was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999.
