FRED BIESTER -- Glenbard

Serving as Principal and Superintendent of Glenbard High School for 44 years, Biester was instrumental in the development and growth of the West Suburban Pioneer League, the original name of the WSC.  Biester served in an administrative capacity from 1918 until his untimely death in 1962, only months before his announced retirement.  A strong advocate of athletics, Fred served the Illinois High School Association as its Secretary-Treasurer from 1932 to 1961.  Biester was a licensed athletic official and was remembered for his promotion the West Suburban Conference track meet, which annually rivaled the state meet.  The gymnasium at Glenbard West is named after him in his honor.
