JOE GODDARD -- The Doings Newspaper |
||||||||||||||
A journalist and newspaper
reporter for 44 years, Goddard wrote for the Hinsdale Doings for five
decades. Although his travels took him across the country, Joe never
stopped promoting the suburban prep sports scene with his feature coverage
of local athletes across the West Suburban Conference. From 1970
through 2014, Goddard wrote over 2,000 "Time-Out" columns that had an
emphasis on high school sports. Covering Major League Baseball for 27
years as a beat writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, Joe was a two-time
runner-up for the National Baseball Hall of Fame's J.G. Taylor Spink Award.
Goddard, a 1960 graduate of Hinsdale Central, was inducted into that
school's Hall of Fame in 2009.
