FORREST BIRKS -- York

Coaching the Dukes on the hardwood for twenty seasons, Birks won six West Suburban Conference titles and  secured the school's first three IHSA regional championships.  Forrest had three stints as the York head basketball coach from 1929-1943, 1946-48 and 1949-1953.  Birks first tenure was interrupted when he left teaching immediately after the season to serve in World War II.  Forrest won conference championships in 1932, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1942; and won regional titles in 1938, 1942 and 1947.  Birks had a record of 233-144 over 20 years.
