A 16-time state
championship coach, Heiteen is one of only three people from the West
Suburban Conference who was recognized with enshrinement into the National
Federation of High Schools National High School Hall of Fame.
Jan guided the Mustangs to Illinois High School Association state titles in
Speech in 1985, 1987, 1992, 1994-1997, 2001, 2004-2009, 2011 and 2012.
In her decorated career, Heiteen coached more than 70 individual IHSA state
champions, and captured 27 state tournament team trophies. Heiteen was
inducted into the NFHS National High School Hall of Fame in 2012, joining
Leyden's Chuck Farina and York's Joe Newton, as the conference's only
members of the Hall. |
