JIM PERKINS -- Riverside-Brookfield & Oak Park-River Forest |
||||||||||||||
An Athletic Director at
two West Suburban Conference schools, Perkins was both a state and national
leader in athletic administration. Perkins was the head football and
swimming coach for the Bulldogs prior to becoming Athletic Director at
Riverside-Brookfield from 1963-1970. Jim returned to his alma mater at
Oak Park-River Forest, serving as the Huskies Athletic Director from
1970-1979. In 1965, Perkins organized the first meeting of statewide
Athletic Directors, and was chosen as the first President of the Illinois
Athletic Directors Association. Perkins logged thousands of miles
traveling across the country trying to form a national organization that
emphasized the importance of physical fitness and athletics. In 1968,
Perkins was elected as the first President of the National Interscholastic
Athletic Administrators Association. Perkins was chosen as a charter
member of the Illinois Athletic Director Association Hall of Fame in 1996. |
