BERNIE SKUL -- Proviso West

The Athletic Director at Proviso West for eighteen years, Skul was the Tournament Manager of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament for 35 years.  During Bernie's tenure over the event, the tournament grew from a fledgling eight-team field in 1961 to a tournament that attracted powerhouse teams and players -- 20 of them playing later in the NBA.  Skul was also the West Suburban Conference Resource Athletic Director for track and field, where he hosted more than 40 conference track meets in both divisions for boys and girls.  Skul was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022 as a Friend of Basketball.
