BILL CARTWRIGHT -- Proviso East

Coaching the Pirates wrestlers from 1977 through 1994, Cartwright won a pair of IHSA team state titles and seven West Suburban Conference championships.  Bill's teams won Illinois High School Association state championships in 1986 and 1991.  Cartwright captured WSC titles in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1986,  1991 and 1992.  His 1986 team never lost the entire season, finishing with a perfect 21-0 dual meet record.  Bill won two IHSA District titles, six regionals, seven sectionals, and was Illinois Wrestling Coach of the Year three times (1980, 1986, 1991). Cartwright was inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame in 1993.
