||||||||||||||
A two-time
high school state hurdle champion, Staisiunaite would compete on track &
field's biggest stage in the Olympic Games. Egle won the 100-meter
high hurdles and the 300-meter low hurdles at the 2007 Illinois High School
Association state meet, and was named as the Illinois Gatorade Athlete of
the Year for girls track. Staisiunate's high hurdle (13.72) and low
hurdle (41.67) best efforts were the third and fourth fastest times in IHSA
state history. Egle qualified for three events as a freshman in the
state meet, and would capture six IHSA medals over the next three years.
At the University of Wisconsin, Staisiunaite set the school records in the
100-meter hurdles (13.45); the 300-meter hurdles (58.37); recorded the
second fastest time in school history in the 60-meter hurdles (8.47); and
qualified for the NCAA meet multiple times. Staisiunaite competed for
Lithuania in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2015 World Championships in
Beijing. |
