JAMES OLSEN -- Glenbard |
||||||||||||||
A two-sport All-State athlete, Olsen was chosen as a member of the 1938 Champaign News-Gazette All-State Football Team as an end, and on the same newspaper's 1939 All-State Basketball Team as a forward. James, who stood six-feet, six-inches tall, played basketball at Dartmouth, earning All-Ivy League honors during the 1941-1942 season. Dartmouth would advance to the national championship game of the 1942 Final Four -- losing a 53-38 decision to Stanford in the title game. Olsen would enter the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later play professional basketball with the Chicago American Gears of the National Basketball League.
